Assume that from now on till the next couple of years, you’ll be running the world with just one arm, while your baby latches on to the other. Irrespective, you must look like the queen that you are. Here are five simple skin care tips for new moms that won’t take much time at all.

1. Stay hydrated

Yes, this may seem like an obvious thing; but water is also easily ignored by a busy mom. Staying hydrated can do wonders for your skin, bringing you a glow that comes from the inside. Drink 4-5 litres of water every day. Set reminders on the phone, using a health app. It will help you track your water intake. Keep bottles and glasses handy.

2. Cleanse

There cannot be an excuse to skip this. Cleansing is the fundamental thing that you need to do, to keep rid your skin of the grub, oil, and baby food. Add an assortment of cleansers to your cart when you shop. In keeping up with the popular double-cleansing routine, you can use oil cleansers and water-based cleansers often. Don't forget to use scrub-cleanse once or twice a week.

3. Get a Moisturiser and under-eye cream

Invest in a good moisturiser and under-eye cream combo. Get a moisturiser to suit your skin, and an under-eye serum or cream to soothe the eye bags. Look for products that restore damaged and ageing skin, boosts collagen production in the skin to prevent fine lines, and have vitamins and acids to erase blemishes and pigmentation. Use before and after bathing and let them do their job.

4. Steal baby products

Baby products are quite mild so that the baby's sensitive skin isn't hurt or compromised. They are also designed to lock moisture. So, don't hesitate to use them on your skin, too. Body oil, lotion, cream - lather some on your skin every time you're applying them on your baby. This way, even if you don't get to dedicate a specific time every day to skin care, your skin will still get the deserved love.

5. Eat fruits, veggies, and good fats

Fruits keep you hydrated and load you up on nutrients. Veggies are essential to ensure you get enough vitamins and minerals that make your skin glow. Most self-proclaimed diet experts will tell you to cut down on fat, but that's a bad idea. If you have good fat that comes from nuts, olive oil, etc., it'll show on your skin. A quick way to consume these is in a smoothie with fruits, veggies, and nuts.

Your baby takes up a large part of your life; just remember that this will continue for a long time. So, it’s important to take care of yourself so that you continue to enjoy your motherhood. It’s no crime to want to look bright and happy, no matter how much people try to shame you for doing it. After all, healthy skin is a sign of a healthy body which is essential to keep you going. Loving yourself doesn’t mean that you’re loving your baby any less. Just remember to remember yourself.
